When our daughter Billie-Jo was born we read many books and one of the things that stayed in my mind was the statistic that one to two children are born with Down Syndrome on average, every day, in England alone.

As a photographer I thought it would be interesting to represent this statistic by taking 365 individual portraits of children with Down syndrome.

I wanted the photographs to show that children with Down syndrome do not all look the same.

With that aim we kept the age range between 5-10 years old and made everyone wear a black t-shirt.
The Black t-shirt combines them all into one group, but with no distractions manages to highlight their uniqueness at the same time.

The 365 project:
Shows how individual (and beautiful) our children are.
Illustrates the statistic that there are one to two children born everyday with Down syndrome, in England alone.
Raises awareness of Down syndrome.
Fundraise for Down syndrome groups.
