In the summer of 2003, for Downs syndrome awareness week, we exhibited some photographs at a friends café. This was a joint exhibition with other parents who also have children with Down syndrome. It was then suggested that, as a group, we put on a larger exhibition.
This was the catalyst to start the 365 project. We put an advert in the DSA journal and had an incredible response. In the space of a month we drove all over the country photographing over 200 children. We held the exhibition at the London Metropolitan University, which was called : Shifting Perspectives view press releases »
The Shifting Perspectives group exhibition will be shown at venues throughout the country, so keep an eye on this site for the venues. (Or if you know of a suitable venue, please let us know.)
We were photographing 365 children, one for each day of the year, so it made sense to carry on and produce a calendar.
Thank you to all those who took part and to those who helped and supported us, whilst we worked on this project. I hope you all like the calendar and what we are doing. All profits will be going to various Down syndrome groups.
